Binding of Isaac: Bigger and better

The Binding of Isaac was a game that was always on the verge of clicking with me. It came around about the same time as a number of other successful rogue-like games that I struggled to get into as well. I enjoy the hook, certainly, the way in which decisions matter massively and every small detail is important – but there has always been something that doesn’t sit quite right with me in each one.

FTL was too random (and intent on making me fail), Spelunky was the wrong genre and The Binding of Isaac was mechanically uninteresting to me. A sort of top down shooter whose movement is a little bit off, the shooting is a little bit off and that frustration is almost too much for me. I have tried to get over it, and maybe I will one day, but not yet. I managed to get into Rogue Legacy, though, so maybe I will?
